Our vacancies
Our working group (AG Thomas Mayer-Gall) at the German Textile Research Center North-West (DTNW) is always looking for motivated students for research work in the form of
- Bacherlor’s thesis
- undergraduate work (Vertiefungs- und Analytikpraktikum)
- Master’s thesis
- Internship
So far, these collaborations have taken place with the following universities and institutes:
- University Duisburg-Essen
- Chemistry program
- Water Science degree program
- Chemistry teaching profession program
- Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences
- Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences

Students from other universities are also welcome to join us.
Overview of current research topics offered in our work group:
- Synthesis and characterization green flame retardant (development of halogen-free flame retardants) and their application
- Nanofibre through electrospinning
- Nanofibres through defibrillation of polymeric fabric
- Light-active textiles (e.g. IR reflection & passive radiation cooling, UV protection, self-cleaning textiles, antibacterial effect)
- Development of carbon nanofiber (CNF) materials for energy storage (supercapacitor, batteries, redox flow and fuel cells)
- Selective textile recycling using ionic liquid, deep eutectic or biobased solvents
- Functional textile/nanofibers based adsorber for water and air treatment
- Novel detector systems for organometallics in the environment
- Ageing behavior of polymers
